On Monday September 26th, St.Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation, proudly celebrated the Annual World Tourism Day in collaboration with the opening of the 3rd Annual Tourism Week held 8:30 am at Fort Oranje. The theme for this year's programme was; Tourism Diversity and Globalization. Present was the Lt. Governor Mr Hyden Gittens, Commissioner of Tourism Mr. Julian Woodley, Commissioner of Education Mr Roy Hooker, and the principals and students of the Elementary Schools. After the ceremony of speeches the children enjoyed a variety of sandwiches and a drink. The rest of the week the activities took the form of field trips to the various tourism sectors and Government offices. Tourisn Week has always climaxed with the Annual Award Winning Ceremony and Gala Dinner at the Lion's Club Saturday evening at 7:oo pm. The nine catagory winners were in the area of Hotel, Restaurant, Dive shop, Waiter, Waitress, Car Rental, Travel Agency, Taxi, and Tour guide. There is also an allotted spot for the Life Time Award winner. The crowning act of the evening was the Keynote Speaker Mr. Dino Daal, Director of Product Development and Cruise Tourism Curacao Tourist Board. On behalf of the St.Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation, the Director of Tourism, Lady Alida Francis and Staff, many thanks to all the stakeholders who contributed in making Tourism Week, the Award Winning Ceremony and Gala Dinner a success. We wish everyone a very successful year upcoming in 2010.
