I was here in 2006 for diving. I stayed in the "Old Gin House", hiked the Quill. had many dives and met all locals and a couple from the Netherlands. The people in Statia are the most friendly of the Caribbean.

Statia Summer Fest July 2007

The annual Statia Summer Fest which many have been waiting for commenced on Thursday July 19 at the Lions Den. Activities for 2007 include a Junior Queen Pageant, Local Talent Extravaganza, Senior Queen Pageant, Calypso Night, International Creole Night and several parades among other things. The last jump-up for Statia Summer Fest and the "Burning of Prince Stupid" are scheduled for Monday July 30. Statia Summer Fest has thus far attracted a large crowd. Several colourful troups from the island and from St. Kitts, St. Maarten and Saba have made this event once again a memorable one.

Update Road Improvement Project

The road improvement project in Oranjestad is ongoing. The Emmaweg has been completed, whilst activities at the Wilhelminaweg are in progress (see photographs).
